Ear problems are very common among people. The most common is having too much wax in the ear. But as common as ear and hearing problems are, so also are there lots of solutions that help in improving one’s hearing. One of the ways of solving ear problems is ear syringing.
Ear syringing, as the name implies, involves the use of a syringe to remove wax from the ears that seem to be blocked. In more details, this works by injecting water that is at body temperature into the ear canal through the nozzle of the syringe. With the very gentle force from the syringe, the water gets into the very deepest part of the ear canal and as this happens it forms a kind of miniature whirlpool of fluid which then helps to dislodge the wax. Apart from just dislodging the wax, the water eventually carries the wax out.
But of course, the process isn’t as simply nor as safe as just described if not performed by a professional. But if performed by a professional who knows what he or she is doing, it is considered very safe, painless and very effective. You should first check to make sure that the wax is soft before going for this method. If not, then it is a good idea to get the wax softened by using drops for few days before the ear syringing.
If you are afraid of complications arising from syringing, it’s a normal fear but because of the huge number of people having this done, the complications are very much reduced. Of course this is unless tinnitus is involved. While some people say ear syringing can cause tinnitus, this is quite rare, unless something goes wrong with the process, which in itself is also rare.
If you, however, want alternatives to ear syringing you can consider removing the wax with a hook or a metal kind of probe, which is of course a bit painful. But again, it’s important to know that, just like the use of syringing, this ought to be done by expert and skilled hands, so that it doesn’t cause more harm than good.
